While I was working on requests and arttrades, I was thinking over some things, specifically the reveal of Pokemon Ultra sun and Ultra moon and what does it mean for future games and the franchise as a whole. 

Frankly, while playing through sun and beating it under 22 hours in game (it took me 3 days counting when I wasn't playing), I sat there after I played and asked myself : 'what did I acopmlish?' I didn't feel like I did anything worthwhile in the game and the ending seemed so rushed. The elite four was a pushover and so was kukui. I couldn't remember some locations at all, I didn't rush through the game either. Some places just weren't memorable and how some locations were set up were just plain awkward. Not to mention after you beat the game, you have almost no interaction with your rivals after that. Of course it was like that in past games too, but in Sun and Moon it was different because they popped up constantly from the get-go. While I love the game, It just fell flat for me. 

Now, why I have high hopes for UltraSun and UltraMoon is because of two reasons: 1) it refines the games and 2) what this means for Generation 8.

For point one this means that I get a more fulfilling Alola experience to make me feel more love for the game, and it fixes features in the game, like the more than unused pokefinder, as well as add new pokemon. for point two, tis is more of a speculation-- an interesting one at that. for you to understand what I am going to be bringing up, I'll sugest you watch Locksin and gnoggin on youtube since it will be adding some light to a since part of his theory around 8th gen. Now this will be using the same logic applied to gen 5 and adding it to this generation with a twist.

My theory is in the next generation is that instead of a whole new game, we'll be revisiting old regions in both 8th gen games. Namely Kanto and Sinnoh. this is because the last game to come out for gen 1 was on the gameboy advance, and while you can get all kanto mons through the 10 dollar games on the Eshop, Lillie's travel to kanto, the appearance of red, blue, and oak's cousin, and the alola mons seem to point to a new kanto game, while gen 4 remakes are inevitable with the lack of sinnoh mons, the rotom pokedex, and the event shiny arceus that happened not so long ago. Surprisingly a lot of people don't like the sinnoh region, but if they release another gen 1 remake/sequel that will hold over that part of the fandom. I'm pretty sure the distaste of the games originate from how OP purugly was in diamond and pearl. They're probably genwunners too.

Most may be skeptical as to why I think well have a double remake generation, and that's because the number 8 is the number for death and rebirth. It's like a series reboot, just like how Black and white was a soft reboot for the series. And since in the new games Gamefreak is showing they think they made a grave mistake with mega evolution and show no signs trying to add more pokemon to the mega roster, there lies the possibility these games will ditch the idea completely. there's also the possibility (the more likely of the two) that they'll capitalize on it, but give it a twist in these games based off the evil teams. In the pokedex entries they make it sound like mega evolution actually drives the pokemon in a mad fit of uncontrolable rage, so an evil team would surly use megas and not care about the pokemon. And finally we'll get what we've all wanted since PMD: darkness, time, and sky, primal dialga alongside the possibility we may finally get the chance to legitimately catch arceus and not action replay the flute for it. Personally, I loved the games in gen 4, soulsilver being my absolute favorite game of the franchise, so I'm hyped of anything they have in store for us.

Since my friendly little community of Hetalia artist and writers alike haven't held a contest for awhile(and boy do I love the idea of a contest) I've decided to step up to the plate for hosting my first contest for !
For those that aren't aware of this groups existence and is also a fan, I say PLEASE check it out! It's got anything you'd probably ever think of for Hetalia!

Now onto the contest. As the title states, this is a summer contest. So it can vary from summer time sunshine at a warm beach to a summer bummer evening for our most beloved cast. Or a shitpost works too since this entire franchise is nothing but one. nothing's off-limits here (correction: almost nothing).

How the system is going to be ran is a little like this: there will be two separate, yet joint contest going on for the artist portion and the fanfiction portion. Both of these groups will be judged by a fairly basic system I've formulated. If you are at all interested in seeing the little 'rubric' I've made, then ask for it. It will also have a few brownie points for things like paying attention to detail, reusing past material(writing portion), a little bit of background on characters(writing portion), ect. Basically if you do things like that then there's a possibility your chances of getting top 3 are higher.

I will have two others join me for picking out the ones that fit best in the given criteria, then choosing 3 out of each given group to award prized to (BTW I'm not giving points because I'm a cheap cunt with none, because frankly, I'm not big on the point system, but if you would like to donate for prizes then that would be pretty damn hunky dory!)
